Graffiti clampdown sees streets cleaned
Councillors in Canton have applauded efforts to clean up a spate of graffiti in the area. A clampdown on graffiti in the Cardiff west ward got underway in April this year and efforts to target graffiti hotspots had paid off, said ward representatives. Cardiff council's graffiti teams targeted York Street and will be looking to clean up some affected areas on Leckwith Road in the future. The council's officers said some parts had been particularly problematic due to graffiti paint on breeze blocks being hard to remove. Speaking on behalf of councillors in the area, Labour councillor Ramesh Patel said: "There has been pockets of graffiti all over Canton and some of it has been there for quite some time. We want to make sure it is reported to us regularly. "I have had constituents coming to see me about it. Our message is really we are asking our constituents to keep us informed so we can report graffiti and ask for it to be removed. "We are never going to get it spotlessly clean. "I would like to thank the graffiti officers because it's not an easy job to do and a lot of hard work has gone into that."
