Northcliffe takes axe to West Country

Northcliffe Media plans to axe more than 30 jobs in the West Country and substantially merging the Plymouth-based Western Morning News and the Bristol-based Western Daily Press, Hold the Front Page reports . The two papers will have one editor and a centralised subbing operation. Western Morning News editor Alan Qualtrough becomes editor-in-chief of the two titles and Daily Press editor Andy Wright will retire. Some 20 subbing posts at Torquay and Exeter and 11 editorial jobs in Bristol at risk. Source: Hold the Front Page
