TV ratings: 10m watch Holland World Cup victory

Holland's 3-2 semifinal win over Uruguay was the most watched non-England match of the World Cup so far, attracting nearly 10 million viewers across ITV1 and ITV1 HD last night, Tuesday 6 July. Live match coverage averaged 9.641 million viewers and a 41.4% audience share across the two channels between 7.30pm and 9.15pm. ITV1 HD had 733,000 (3.1%). The match had a five-minute peak audience of 11.5 million (47%) from 9pm. Full coverage, including pre- and post-match analysis, averaged 8.615 million (38.5%) between 7pm and 9.30pm, of whom 642,000 were watching ITV1 HD. The previous biggest World Cup 2010 audience for a non-England game was for Spain's 1-0 defeat of Portugal in last Tuesday's quarter-final, which had a live match average of 8.575 million (39.5%) on BBC1 and BBC HD . Holland v Uraguay was comfortably the most watched programme on any channel yesterday, as most of the other mainstream networks padded out their peaktime schedules with repeats. The next biggest audience was 4.046 million (16.9%) for Holby City on BBC1 from 8pm.
