Scottish NHS tenders for privacy and infection systems
The four year framework agreement for privacy breach protection software is worth up to £1m and is for various NHS health boards in Scotland. NHS NSS said it hopes that the software will help the organisations to "strengthen their existing privacy surveillance and privacy breach detection capabilities". It added that the service or product will have to work with "all major electronic clinical systems used within NHS Scotland," and draw on audit log data from existing systems, according to a notice published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 7 October 2010. It added said that the system should have an extensive reporting capability and include information based on access date, demographic data and system user ID. The second notice, for a web-based infection control software system, is also worth up to £1m and will also be used by NHS boards across the country. Under the four year framework agreement, the chosen supplier will provide case management and alerting for a range of "organisms and conditions". "The system should be web based and accessible from desktop and mobile devices. The system should allow automatic downloading from a range of hospital systems that must include patient management or patient administration systems, laboratory systems, surgical systems and pharmacy systems," NHS NSS said. It should also be able to export information into patient management, electronic patient record and bed management systems. "We are looking for an off the shelf solution that will require a minimum of development from a company which has experience in deploying, interfacing and maintaining such systems," the organisation added.
