TV ratings: BBC2 sitcom Rev draws 2m
BBC2's new sitcom Rev made a promising start last night, Monday 28 June, attracting just over 2 million viewers in its 10pm slot. Rev, starring Tom Hollander as a vicar in a rundown east London parish, was watched by 2.187 million viewers, drawing a 10.7% audience share on BBC2. A further 50,000 (0.2%) watched on BBC HD. The comedy just squeaked ahead of Channel 4's Big Brother (2.038 million/11.6%, C4+1 135,000/1.5%) and ITV1's News at Ten (1.986 million/9.8%, ITV HD 66,000 0.3%). Other 10pm competition included BBC1's news bulletin (4.643 million/22.5%) and Channel Five documentary Crimes That Shook the World (880,000/4.8%). Earlier in the evening, ITV1's World Cup Live featuring Brazil's 3-0 win against Chile dominated viewing, with a live match average of 6.176 million (28%) over an hour and 45 minutes from 7.30pm. ITV1 HD's simulcast added a further 428,000 (2%). Full coverage, including pre- and post-match comment and analysis, averaged 5.503 million (25.5%) on ITV1 and 377,000 (1.8%) on ITV1 HD between 7pm and 9.30pm. Yesterday afternoon Holland's 2-1 win over Slovakia had a live match average of 2.394 million (29.5%) on BBC1 between 3pm and 4.45pm. Another 165,000 (1.8%) watched on BBC HD. Full coverage, including pre- and post-match comment and analysis, averaged 2.107 million (23.1%) on BBC1 and 151,000 (1.7%) on BBC HD between 2.30pm and 5.15pm.
