Tony Curtis remembered at the Oscars
Tony Curtis took his final bow at the Academy Awards ceremony as part of the annual tribute to those in the film industry who died in the past 12 months. The Bronx-born actor passed away on September 29, aged 85. His screen credits include The Defiant Ones, The Sweet Smell of Success, Spartacus, The Great Race, Insignificance and The Boston Strangler. But for many he remains most fondly remembered for his role as Joe, the on-the-run jazz musician who reinvents himself as "Josephine" in Billy Wilder's freewheeling 1959 comedy Some Like it Hot. Curtis once confessed that he wanted the film's immortal final line - "Nobody's perfect" - to serve as his epitaph.
