Tommy Sandhu gets Asian Network breakfast gig
Tommy Sandhu is the new breakfast presenter of the BBC's threatened digital radio station the Asian Network , with incumbent DJ Adil Ray set to leave the network. Sandhu currently hosts the drivetime show on the station and will switch to his new slot on 7 June. Ray, who starred in Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson's comedy Bellamy's People on BBC2 , is leaving to pursue other TV and radio projects. Sandhu will be replaced on the drivetime show by the Asian Network's weekend breakfast presenter Noreen Khan. The Asian Network will close at the end of next year under controversial proposals put forward by BBC director general Mark Thompson.
