Led Zeppelin came 'real close' to touring without Robert Plant
The son of the late Led Zeppelin drummer, John Bonham, claims he, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were "real close" to reuniting with a new singer before disagreements with Robert Plant forced them to cancel a proposed reunion tour in 2008. "I think ... basically, they agreed to disagree," Bonham told MusicRadar . "After a while, it was just time to move on." Although it's well known that the band considered returning to the road, it has never been clear how much of these plans were just rumour. According to Bonham, the project was very real. "We did a year of writing and putting stuff together," he said. "I loved working with Jimmy and John Paul. It was so much fun." In fact, this group reportedly worked better together than Bonham's "current" band. "I think we felt more like a band than Black Country Communion... It got as close as you could get." But while reports at the time had Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy stepping in for Plant, Bonham claims a different frontperson was going to take Led Zep's main mic. "Nope," he said, when asked about Kennedy. "There was somebody else. Somebody else was involved – and that's all I'll say. But as I said, I loved the time we had together. I can't even explain it, it was just great." Please, please, please don't let it have been Steven Tyler .
