David Beckham set to be given England coaching role at World Cup

David Beckham is expected to confirm that he will take up Fabio Capello's offer to go to South Africa and work as a coach with England's World Cup squad. The injured former captain will take a seat alongside Capello on the England bench in South Africa, helping out in training and acting as an intermediary between players and staff, according to reports. Beckham ruptured an achilles tendon while playing for Milan in March, ending his hopes of playing in a fourth World Cup. He is not expected to be fit until October but has been cleared by medics to carry out a coaching role. The 35-year-old midfilelder is currently in Zurich with England's 2018 delegation, where he will hand over their bid book to Fifa .
