Connecting Classrooms update
Last year, Katine primary school teamed up with Soroti secondary school and St Francis school for the blind in Uganda and All Saints Catholic high school in Sheffield, England, under the British Council's Connecting Classrooms programme. The three-year programme aims to address the "outdated negative stereotypical attitudes" young people in Africa and the UK have of each other, broaden the international view of young people in Britain and Africa and develop the skills of both pupils and teachers. District education authorities in Soroti and Sheffield will coordinate the programme and the British Council will meet the cost of developing the partnership. Since the programme was launched last year, the partners have agreed their programme until 2012. We will be reporting on the progress of the partnership, but the British Council has created a web page with the latest information, including YouTube clips from a visit Sheffield pupils made to Uganda last year.
