Robyn: Body Talk Part 1

Diminutive Swede Robyn burst out of the crowded Scandinavian electro-pop underground in 2007 with a Number 1 hit. Three years on, the jackhammer beats of comeback single "Dancing on my Own", suck you on to the nearest dancefloor; the tune's stoic tearfulness recalls the masters of the genre, Abba. There are only eight tracks on this first of three numbered albums due this year, but Robyn's strike rate is high. "Fembot" contradicts Kraftwerk's assertion that machines cannot feel; "Dancehall Queen" relocates dancehall to colder pop climes. Throughout, Robyn balances disposability and emotional heft.
