Chris Evans responds, Adrian Chiles goes awol

The power of Twitter, part 157. Chris Evans responded to our story today that he has signed to replace Adrian Chiles on The One Show on Friday nights via these tweets: "Story about The One Show in les papiers today, tis true ! Just been informed there will be a press announcement going out anytime now. Thanks for all the congrats about The One Show gig. Very excited, first meetings about it this week." The BBC duly issued a press release, which also said that Chiles would continue to present Mondays to Thursdays. But they then had to retract the bit about Chiles. Monkey hears he is away and has "had a wobble" and not yet signed a deal. With only a few weeks left on his contract, can someone get that man a pen please? Or a Twitter account.
