Dangerous liaisons?

It has been easy, of late, to get carried away with the idea that youthful uprising is generally open-hearted and pure. Saturday's demonstration by the English Defence League, in Luton, might serve as a timely reminder that even for the young, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Alternatively, one might find oneself listening to the EDL spokesmen, then marvelling about how, when they speak of the vast difference between militant Islam and ordinary Muslims willing to integrate, they sound uncannily similar to most top-ranking British and US politicians of the past 10 years. Plenty of insults have been thrown at the EDL. But that one, surely, has to sting.
