Lucozade Energy adverts return to TV after six years
Lucozade Energy is to return to TV advertising after an absence of six years with a new commercial directed by skateboarding legend and documentary film director Stacy Peralta . The campaign, Lucozade's first since Ogilvy & Mather's quirky retro-feel ads of 2004 , introduces the new brand positioning of "Do More". Lucozade's new ad, which breaks on cinema and TV tonight, is a traditional take on the adventure sport theme featuring activities including kite surfing, mountain biking and white water rafting. In each case a trail of orange Lucozade Energy appears to power each sportsman. The campaign has been made by M&C Saatchi. Peralta, who filmed the ad in South Africa, found fame as a skateboarder in the 1970s and 1980s alongside Tony Hawk. He later turned to film-making with documentaries such as Dogtown and Z-Boys and Riding Giants. Lucozade Energy used Tomb Raider heroine Lara Croft in an ad campaign in 2001 . While back in 1985 the brand famously used decathlete Daley Thompson in a commercial set to Iron Maiden's Phantom of the Opera . • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
