Cross words in the crossword?

Monkey loves nothing better than unwinding over elevenses with a crossword – of the Guardian cryptic variety, naturally. But hang on, what's this in yesterday's puzzle ? Clue 12 down – "Right lot of terrorists turn in the dirt, being experts on 1 across" – yields the answer "Carter-Ruck". Other answers included "Libel laws" (1 across) and "Super-injunction" (9 across), but strangely no "Trafigura". Monkey can assure readers that, in this instance at least, 12 down didn't obtain a 9 across.
