The Market

Ben Hopkins is doing a Peter Strickland on us. A Brit, he made one promising film on home shores (The Nine Lives of Thomas Katz) before jumping ship to shoot abroad, first with refugee documentary 37 Uses for a Dead Sheep (my favourite: 24), and now this, a knockabout globalisation drama about an enterprising Turkish salesman who vaguely specialises in cables but wants to move into mobile phones. This never quite captivates like Strickland's Katalin Varga, but it's still engaging, ruefully funny stuff.
