TV ratings: MasterChef above 5m

The final week of BBC1's MasterChef rolled on last night, Tuesday 6 April, winning the 9pm hour with just over 5 million viewers. MasterChef's three finalists had to cook for the chef Alain Ducasse, with last night's episode attracting 5.037 million viewers and a 20.6% share, according to unofficial overnights. BBC2 documentary series Great Ormond Street and Channel 4's Heston's Chocolate Factory Feast vied for second place in the slot. Great Ormond Street, the first instalment of a three-parter about the children's hospital, had 2.398 million (9.8%), against 2.397 million (9.8%) for the launch Heston Blumenthal's latest Channel 4 cooking series. Heston's Chocolate Factory Feast attracted another 419,000 (2.3%) on Channel 4 +1 an hour later. Also in the 9pm hour, Channel Five's CSI had 1.999 million (8.2%), while ITV1's Law & Order: UK repeat drew 1.994 million (8.2%). Sky Sports 2's live coverage of Barcelona's 4-1 defeat of Arsenal had 1.876 million (7.9%) over two hours from 7.45pm. Full coverage, including pre- and post-match comment and analysis, averaged 1.682 million (7.1%) between 7.30pm and 10pm. Elsewhere in multichannel last night, More4 gave a UK TV premiere to Starsuckers, in which documentary-maker Chris Atkins and his team fed false celebrity gossip stories to tabloid newspapers and sought to uncover how journalists, agents and PRs keep the wheels of showbiz turning. Starsuckers had 94,000 (0.7%) over two hours from 10pm. Multichannel competition in the 10pm hour included Sky1's Fringe (307,000/1.7%), and BBC3's EastEnders repeat (726,000/3.6%) and The Gemma Factor 257,000 (1.5%). A repeat of the first ever A Touch of Frost, 1992's Care and Protection, on ITV3 attracted 488,000 (3.5%) between 10pm and 12.05am. Over on ITV1 in the 8pm hour the fond farewell to the broadcaster's long running detective drama continued following Monday's final instalment, with the documentary Touched by Frost: Goodbye Jack attracting 3.255 million (13.8%). BBC1's Holby City (5.352 million/22.7%) took the ratings honours in the slot, as per, against competition including Channel 4's Supersize v Superskinny (2.131 million/9%). A further 223,000 (0.9%) watched on Channel 4+1. The third episode of The Delicious Miss Dahl had 1.812 million (7.5%) on BBC2 over half an hour from 8.30pm, preceded by Grow Your Own Drugs (1.747 million/7.6%).
