Transformers and Land of the Lost lead Razzie nods

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Land of the Lost have both won the dubious distinction of seven nominations at this year's Golden Raspberry awards, which "honour" the worst in film-making. Michael Bay's smash-hit robot epic, which has taken more than $800m (£503m) at the global box office, tied with Will Ferrell's dinosaur-battling dud for the most nods, including worst picture, worst screen couple, worst director and worst sequel, remake or rip-off. All About Steve, a romcom starring Bradley Cooper and Sandra Bullock, received five nominations, as did GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Bullock's nomination for worst actress of the year could mean she has the rare honour of winning both worst and best actress awards – she's tipped for Oscar glory for her work in sporting drama The Blind Side. Old Dogs, starring John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston, received four nods, as did the latest Twilight film, New Moon. Special end of decade categories have also been created this year, which see Madonna and Paris Hilton doing battle for worst actress of the decade, and Ben Affleck and John Travolta among the nominees for worst actor. The Razzies were set up in 1980 by John Wilson as an antidote to the cosy self-congratulation of the awards season, and are voted for by the 647-strong Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, membership of which costs $25. The nominees announcement comes one day before that issued by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences; the Razzies ceremony also gazumps the Oscars by a day, this year taking place on 6 March.
