Leeds today: McFly at Leeds Christmas lights, station views, Aagrah and Hannah Trigwell

Good morning Leeds. McFly have been announced as the headline performers at this week's Leeds Lights switch-on. The four-piece band who are back with a new sound and a new album 'Above The Noise' released this month will top the bill at the free annual event which takes place from 7pm on Thursday 18 November at Victoria Gardens. McFly will be performing their new single "Shine a Light" in front of an expected crowd of 20,000 people. The show will also feature a performance by former X-Factor winner Shayne Ward. There will be special appearances by Cbeebies television presenter Katy Ashworth together with Leeds United manager Simon Grayson, Leeds Rhinos players and Santa's showtime to get the Christmas spirit flowing. What's making Leeds tick today? Network Rail's Head of Retail is coming to Leeds to meet with the Chamber of Commerce next month to discuss the look, feel and general first impressions of Leeds Train Station. Chapel Allerton's festive lights switch-on is previewed at About My Area LS7 . North West Leeds police are appealing for witnesses after a woman had her bag snatched in Guiseley. Police are also making a renewed appeal for witnesses to a road traffic collision in Woodhouse which saw a 19-year-old student seriously injured. Pudsey's new £2.4 million bus station is now open for operation . Lee Hicken posts on Hebe Media blog about last week's TedXLeeds event, which he says will have sown some interesting seeds for the future in Leeds. Creative Boom Leeds says 'Moving Body in the City', a new series of short films and a projected kaleidoscope by six contemporary artists specialising in audio visual artwork, will celebrate the post industrial landscape and communities of Yorkshire at a series of events. A Royal Mail reorganisation has led to a backlog of post in Leeds and is being labelled a "disaster" by postmen and customers, reports the YEP .
