Heavy Metal in the Large Hadron Collider: this time for real

Here are some pictures of what happens - for real, not simulation - when lead ions with 287 TeV of energy each collide head on. You can be forgiven for not being able to make head nor tail of that. It is a bit yakawow , but that's ok every now and then. And it is pretty, isn't it? More from ALICE , CMS , and my own experiment, ATLAS . See my previous post and links for more information.
