Cabinet Office confirms IT review
It also confirmed that prime minister David Cameron has agreed to the contents of a letter about a moratorium on IT projects which will be go to departments shortly. The government is preparing new guidelines on signing big IT contracts, the legal implications of which are currently being checked by solicitors. According to Computer Weekly, the deputy government chief information officer, Bill McCluggage, told an audience at the 360 degree IT event in London: "I'm not sure that the guidelines will radically change the landscape, but they will have an impact on value for money. "They will go into the commercial aspect of how IT projects deliver value." He added: "We are driving through a harder-nosed commercial reality in terms of projects we expect the departments to be engaged in."
