Paul Gilshan to head Times marketing
News International has hired Paul Gilshan, BSkyB's head of marketing for its movie channels, to head marketing for the Times newspaper. Gilshan, who also handled marketing for Sky Real Lives, has been hired by his former boss at BSkyB, Alexandra Lewis, who joined News International as marketing director for the Times and Sunday Times in September last year . At BSkyB Gilshan was responsible for the high-profile relaunch of Sky Movies in 2007, which featured a commercial made of a montage of shots from Sao Paolo , where billboard advertising is banned, to highlight that its subscription channels are ad-free. At News International he will be responsible for leading the brand work on the Times to "drive loyalty and attract new customers to the title and its affiliated products". His job will involve marketing the Times's online subscription offering when the News International title introduces a paywall later this year . • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
