Football League bets to follow this weekend, plus our tipping contest

Welcome to our tipping round-up. Most of you know the drill by now, but for those who don't, every week I post my betting suggestions for the weekend (which you may well wish to steer well clear of), as well as our predictions contest. The blog can also act as a talkboard for any Football League-related discussions over the weekend. Hull to beat Scunthorpe at 11-8 Tempting as Middlesbrough (six games unbeaten) are for their trip to south London this weekend, the fact that Crystal Palace haven't conceded in any of their last six matches at Selhurst Park drains my bullishness and sends us north. With one loss in 14, Hull represent the best option against a Scunthorpe team coming into the game with just one win in 11. The Iron lost Martyn Woolford and Jonathan Forte on deadline day and, while adding Joe Garner and Lee Miller on loan deals (a downgrade), it means only 15 of the team's goals this season remain in the squad. And more worrying is the fact that despite their current 23rd placing, no team in the Championship has won more games away from home than Scunthorpe (six). At Glanford Park, they have won just one of 12, collecting six points of 36 and scoring only nine times in doing so. There's nothing for the Tigers to fear here. Peterborough v Southampton +3.5 goals at 6-4 Some Posh-tinted stats with which to jinx the Saturday tea-time encounter: • There have been 107 goals in Peterborough's 26 games • This bet has come in 14 times from those 26 games • This bet has come in nine times from 14 home games • In those five other games, three goals have been scored • In the pair's last seven, this bet has come in four times Inevitably, a goalless draw awaits. If you'd rather take the +2.5 goals (it's 8-5 on), though for the braver souls among you, +4.5 goals is available at 7-2, a bet that has come in seven times from the 14 home Posh games. NB: prices with Betfair and correct at the time of publication Tipping contest As you'll note from the scoring, late starters have been awarded one point for every week they have missed. The pools panel results have been taken for two of last week's postponements (with Preston getting an away win at Scunthorpe and Crewe v Accrington being a draw), though Rochdale v Charlton wasn't on the panel verdicts so sadly can't count.
