Six Nations 2011: England set to keep faith with Mike Tindall

England are set to retain Mike Tindall as their captain against France this weekend after deciding not to recall the fit-again Lewis Moody to their starting XV. Moody, who has only just returned after five weeks on the sidelines with a knee ligament strain, may yet be named as a replacement when Martin Johnson confirms his side on Thursday but Tindall, barring a late change of heart, will remain in charge. Moody is understandably keen to regain his place but there is an obvious logic in keeping faith with a winning team. Meanwhile, London Irish's Alex Corbisiero, a successful debutant against Italy, is in line to win a second cap after being retained in preference to Tim Payne, who has been allowed to rejoin his club Wasps. Sale's Andrew Sheridan, who missed the Italian game with a bad back, is likely to start but both props look sure to participate in Saturday's game. The Leeds flanker Hendre Fourie has also been asked to remain with the squad ahead of Saturday's Test. Bath's Nick Abendanon, Leicester's George Chuter, Gloucester's Paul Doran-Jones, Northampton's Phil Dowson, the Wasps' pair of Riki Flutey and Joe Simpson, Sale's Charlie Hodgson and Saracens' David Strettle have all been released.
