Date set for preliminary hearing

Two men charged with the murder of a 17-year-old school boy from Roath appeared at Cardiff Crown Court today. Ben Hope, 36, and Jason Richards, 35, both from the Roath area appeared before the Recorder of Cardiff for a bail hearing after being charged with the murder of Aamir Siddiqi and attempted murder of his parents. No application for bail was made due to the nature of the ongoing investigation. A preliminary hearing will take place at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday 30 April. Both men appeared before the court and spoke only to confirm their name. The men will now be remanded in custody and Richards will appear at the next hearing by video link. The case has been the focus of media and public attention since a stabbing occurred at the Siddiqi house on Sunday 11 April.
