Football League bets to follow this weekend, plus our tipping contest

Welcome to our weekly Friday tipping round-up. Most of you know the drill by now, but for those that don't, every week I will post my betting suggestions for the weekend (you'll probably want to bet in direct opposition), as well as our predictions contest. Rotherham to beat Southend at 9-5 As you may have read in the Fiver earlier this week , the Shrimpers are staging a "spooktacular Halloween-themed matchday" for Saturday's game. "Theme nights still to come this season: Cartoon (4 December), Kung Fu (26 February), Love (2 April) and Non-League (7 May)." The last of those might not seem so far-fetched if their decline continues at its current pace, with the club in trouble both on and off the pitch. Eighteenth in League Two after three defeats in a row, still without captain Craig Easton and now having had to make their goalkeeping coach, kit-man and 'transfer adviser' redundant , the fiscally-challenged club now welcome the fourth-placed Millers to Essex. Rotherham lost a wild one at home to Wycombe last weekend in a 4-3 defeat they could have just as easily won. Only their second defeat in 13 leagues games, it ended a seven-match unbeaten run. But boss Ronnie Moore has loaned in Arsenal midfielder Mark Randall this week to bolster a squad hell-bent on avoiding a Roots Hall nightmare. Bury to beat Aldershot at 2-1 A run of one defeat in 12 games has propelled the Shakers to third in the table ahead of this trip to The Recreation Ground. The Shots, conversely, have lost two in four, denting some solid early-season form on the back of an impressive defensive record (12 goals conceded in 13), one that is bettered by only two teams. Unfortunately, only two teams have scored fewer (11 in 13) and Bury's Ryan Lowe has already scored 10 on his own: 2-1 is too big a price. NB: prices with Betfair and correct at the time of publication Tipping contest As you'll note from the scoring, late starters have been awarded one point for every week they have missed.
