Football League bets to follow this weekend, plus our tipping contest
I should really just make this a tipping contest . Nevertheless, welcome to our weekly Friday tipping round-up. Most of you know the drill by now, but for those that don't, every week I will post my betting suggestions for the weekend, as well as our predictions contest. Nottingham Forest to beat Barnsley at 7-4 With 10 games gone, Forest sit mid-table with half of the points accrued by QPR. Remarkably, they've only lost one match fewer than the runaway leaders, and haven't tasted defeat since 10 August, yet this remains a season of underperformance on the banks of the Trent after last season's relative achievement. Seven draws from 10 games highlights one thing: a lack of surprise factor meaning opponents approach them with more caution, more defensive-minded set-ups. Barnsley are unlikely to take this route on Saturday, however, Mark Robins's side remaining one of the more open, attractive teams to watch in the division. However, since I put the mockers on them last month, the Tykes have gone winless in four. That's not to say Forest will have things all their own way, and they head to Oakwell without ill boss Billy Davies, but it feels that their season is finally clicking into gear. It's 10-11 to go 'draw no bet' for the more conservative among you. Bournemouth to beat MK Dons at 5-4 After their tricky south-coast derby double-header, the Cherries return to a Fitness First Stadium which has yet to witness a home defeat this season. Four wins and a draw out five, and a +12 goal difference make their home record second only to leaders Brighton and the Dons (and that's only because both have played a game more at home). And it hasn't come against mug teams, with spankings of Peterborough and Carlisle chief among them. The Dons' away performances have been less favourable, mind (only the bottom two have worse records), with defeats to Peterborough and Carlisle chief among them. NB: prices with Betfair and correct at the time of publication Tipping contest As you'll note from the scoring, late starters have been awarded one point for every week they have missed.
