TV ratings: Tourette's repeat beats Champions League
BBC1's repeat of last year's documentary Tourette's: I Swear I Can't Help It was the most popular 9pm programme last night, Wednesday 17 March, as ITV1 showed Barcelona's Champions League tie. The Tourette's film, a follow-up to the 1988 QED documentary about then teenager John Davidson, John's Not Mad, attracted 3.767 million viewers and a 16.7% share in the 9pm hour, according to unofficial overnights. Over on ITV1, Barcelona's 4-0 victory over Stuttgart averaged 3.233 million viewers (14.4%) over two hours of live coverage from 7.45pm. Full coverage, including pre- and post-match comment and analysis, averaged 3.01 million viewers (13.5%) between 7.30pm and 10pm. BBC2 documentary series Inside John Lewis continued with 2.78 million viewers (12.3%) in the 9pm hour, while NCIS on Channel Five had 2.216 million (9.8%). On Channel 4 at the same time Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares USA drew 1.696 million viewers (7.5%), with a further 311,000 (1.9%) on Channel 4 +1. Earlier in the evening Caroline Quentin family sitcom Life of Riley returned to BBC1 for its second series with 5.801 million viewers (27.5%) in the half hour from 7.30pm, winning its slot. Competition included BBC2 current affairs documentary The Berlusconi Show, with 797,000 viewers (3.8%) over an hour from 7pm. The most-watched multichannel show of the day was a repeat of Agatha Christie's Marple on ITV4, which drew 881,000 viewers (3.9%) between 7.55pm and 10pm.
